Prized horses, cattle and some of the country’s best folk music artists wowed the crowds

Bathed in sunshine and buzzing with visitors, day three of the Royal Highland Show welcomed 55,000 people to the Royal Highland Centre on Saturday.

Highlights of the celebration of Scottish farming, food and rural life was The Reeling, a new traditional music festival featuring Dougie MacLean and folk band Skipinnish.

The iconic Grand Parade also drew the crowds, with more than 150 of the country's finest prize-winning cattle and horses strutting their stuff in the Main Ring.

David Tennant, Head of Show for RHASS, said: “Today’s sunshine made for a sell-out Saturday as 55,000 people descended to the Royal Highland Centre for day three of the Show.

“We saw the iconic Grand Parade take place which saw all eyes on the Main Ring, with a lumberjack relay, heavy horse turnout pairs and side saddling also delighting crowds.

“Adding to the day, The Reeling, featuring the country’s finest traditional acts took centre stage as the day drew to a close and saw festival-goers enjoy music from Breabach, Dougie MacLean, Dlù, Elephant Sessions, Kinnaris Q and Skipinnish.”

Sunday is the final day of the show, with the family-focused event shining a light on both the heritage and future of the sector. Visitors can expect to enjoy the popular milking demonstrations and showjumping.
