Hostile Scots

GIVEN that it is England which overwhelmingly picks up the tab for the European Union, membership of which Scotland appears to approve, and for the billions of pounds which the latter country receives under the terms of the Barnett Formula, without which the Scots would really know what austerity is, can someone please explain why all England receives from the Scottish Nationalists in return is not just downright ingratitude but actual hostility?
