Degree of skill
It’s interesting to read that “more jobs now require a degree than no qualifications at all” (your report, 24 April), yet last week we were told that employers were complaining that graduates lacked basic skills of literacy and numeracy.
Could it be they need to expand the pool of candidates, and focus on those who can show evidence of these skills, regardless of whether or not they have formal qualifications?
