The two things we'd love to see in Kelvingrove's Billy Connolly exhibition
Billy Connolly’s invitation to ‘come along and have a laugh’ or ‘the best chips in town’ sounds good to us

As teases go, it takes some beating. According to a 43-second video by comedy legend and Scottish national treasure Billy Connolly, his beloved Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow is to stage “a special exhibition about my life, my times, my clothes, my comedy”.
The Big Wee Exhibition is due to open next year and we’re all “very welcome to come along and have a laugh”. However, in typical style, he adds that “if you’re bored with it, there’s a special restaurant there, they have the best chips in town”, which is surely a contentious claim.
Details are sparse, but we suspect there will be many different things that many different people want to see – the Big Banana Boots, the extravagant shirts, and the like.
But we’d like to put in a special request. Given the lasting impact of the knitted swimming trunks that he wore as a youngster on his career, we surely need to see two authentic pairs from the period: one in their dry state, the other soggy and saggy, and magically transformed into Connolly comedy gold.
