ALEX SALMOND has been accused of deception over his plans for a currency union with the UK in the event of a Yes vote in the Scottish independence referendum.

Former chairman of Prudential Martin Jacomb and the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of England Sir Andrew Large have said that a currency union between a separate Scotland and the continuing UK is “not on offer” and “not an option.”

They also warned that the consequences of a Yes vote will be “enormous.”
