Big story in Balamory! What will become of the green house now?
The house used by Miss Hoolie in Balamory is up for sale for offers over £225,000
“What's the story in Balamory?" we hear you ask. Well, there is some really quite dramatic news, for the green house – not a ‘greenhouse’ but a cottage painted green – is up for sale. Oh no, you cry, what is happening to Miss Hoolie?!
Please don’t worry, she’s not become the latest victim of Scotland’s housing crisis or decided to leave Balamory after a terrible falling out with inventor Archie. Instead, the sale is happening in real life, rather than in the Tobermory-based children’s television show, which features houses painted in different colours to match the characters.

Matthew Spence, who has lived in the cottage for nearly 40 years, is selling up, with the property on the market for offers over £225,000, which doesn’t seem half bad for a piece of television history and a lovely home.
He recalled “busloads” of children coming to visit the cottage, with some posting sweets through the door. With a revival planned for next year, the new owner may find themselves with a similar bounty – and a waistline requiring some help from Josie Jump (she's in the yellow house).
