Man who sexually assaulted two women on Glasgow to Edinburgh train one week apart jailed
The 24-year-old has been sentenced to ten months in prison
A man who sexually assaulted two women one week apart on a ScotRail train from Glasgow to Edinburgh has been jailed.
Mohammed Mirzai, who has no fixed address, assaulted the first woman on the 9.45pm service between the cities on March 14 2025.
The court heard how he chose to sit next to her despite the fact there were several other seats available.

He proceeded to sexually assault the woman, who challenged his actions, before leaving the train at Falkirk High station.
The woman contacted the British Transport Police and shared a photo that a witness had taken of Mirzai.
As detectives worked to identify the predator, another woman contacted the police to report he had also sexually assaulted her on the same Glasgow to Edinburgh service just over a week later on March 22.
Mirzai was sentenced to ten months in prison at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Thursday, April 9, after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual assault at an earlier hearing.
He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for ten years and pay a victim surcharge.
Detective Constable Liam Deasley said: "Mirzai is a dangerous predator who targeted lone women in a routine manner, clearly finding a route that he felt comfortable and safe sexually assaulting women on.
"There is absolutely no place for this kind of behaviour, and I commend the bravery of the victims for coming forward and supporting the investigation so that we could put Mirzai behind bars.
"If you've been the victim of a sexual assault or witness one taking place, please report it to us by texting 61016 so that we can take action and secure justice.
“We take every report seriously, and will stop at nothing to put sexual offenders behind bars."
