Hundreds of St Patrick's Day revellers line Edinburgh streets from early morning ahead of annual celebrations

Hundreds of St Patrick’s Day revellers have been queuing outside Edinburgh venues this morning (March 17) as they prepare to begin annual celebrations.

Taking place on March 17, St Patrick’s Day sees millions of people around the world celebrate Irish culture.

And Edinburgh is no different, with venues across the city hosting events to mark the big day.

Those heading out to celebrate St Patrick's Day 2026 have already been spotted queuing outside courtyard bar The Three Sisters.

The Cowgate venue is hosting a full-day of celebrations, with hundreds of people seen queing outside earlier this morning.

Other venues in the city are also hosting events, with large crowds expected to attend.

Irish pub Dropkick Murphy’s last week warned patrons not to camp outside, after previous years saw particularly keen punters pitch up tents to guarantee entry to the venue.

The pub told followers on social media that City of Edinburgh Council had contacted them to urge customers to not sleep outside the pub to be the first in the doors at 11am.
