Police name 69-year-old pedestrian killed in Oban car crash
Police Scotland has named a pensioner hit by a car in Oban on Thursday, as the force appealed for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
Margaret Smith, a local resident, was taken to Lorn and Islands Hospital in the town for treatment.
But the 69-year-old was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival.
Officers have now appealed for witnesses to the crash, which happened at around 6:30pm on Soroba Road.
They said Ms Smith was hit by a Citroen Berlingo, and added that the driver was uninjured in the crash.
Police are particularly keen to speak to those who may have dashcam footage.
Sergeant Alister Johnson of Road Policing in Glasgow said: "Our thoughts are with this woman's family and friends.
"We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances which led to this incident and would urge anyone who may be able to help to get in touch.
