Man pleads guilty to attempted murder of 54-year-old in Edinburgh
A 21-year-old man has admitted trying to murder a man in Edinburgh last year.
Joshua Stewart pleaded guilty at the High Court in Glasgow on Thursday, March 5, to the attempted murder of a 54-year-old man.
It is the latest conviction as part of Operation Portaledge - an ongoing investigation into violent incidents in the east and west of the country.
Police rushed to Pitcairn Grove in Edinburgh last May after receiving reports of the attempted murder of a 54-year-old man. Stewart was arrested and charged in connection with the incident the following month.

Detective Chief Superintendent Dave Ferry, of the Specialist Crime Division, said: “This was a violent incident and the conviction is testament to the hard work and dedication by detectives, specialist officers and partners across the country.
“We will continue to bring those involved in serious criminality to justice. Police Scotland remains committed to the Serious and Organised Crime Taskforce and its national strategy."
More than 60 people have been arrested as part of Operation Portaledge after numerous instances of retaliatory violence across the central belt. The number of instances have reduced in recent months as it appears the dispute has calmed - however, assaults, shooting and fire bombings were reported in the early months of 2025.
