Glasgow cat owner recalls terrifying moment 6-month-old kitten swallowed sewing needle
The owners of six-month-old Ember have praised the swift action of the vets to remove the needle.
A cat owner in Glasgow has described the terrifying moment they discovered their young kitten had a sewing needle lodged at the back of her throat.
Tamzin and Cieron, the owners of six-month-old Ember, rushed her to the Animal Trust Vets in Ibrox after she began choking on November 13.

An X-ray examination later revealed Ember had swallowed a sewing needle which had become stuck at the back of her mouth. The young kitten was sedated and the needle was swiftly removed. To her owners’ relief she was discharged a few hours later.
Tamzin, Ember’s owner, has described her horror after realising what had happened.
She said: “Seeing Ember choking and then realising she had a needle stuck in her throat was the scariest moment of my life. We rushed her to Animal Trust while I was crying and shaking.

“The staff were amazing — they acted fast, explained everything, and comforted us the whole way. We’re so grateful she’s home and recovering.”
Dr Gethin Edwards-Jones, who attended to Ember said: “A sewing needle in the throat can cause serious complications, but thanks to quick intervention and teamwork, Ember is now on the mend.”
