Watch: Yotam Ottolenghi show us inside Ottolenghi Edinburgh

The first Ottolenghi restaurant in Scotland will open in the capital on 2 October.

Yotam Ottolenghi’s first Scottish restaurant will open on Friday 2 October, and the famous chef, author and restaurant owner has been in the capital for its launch, which kicked off with a party on Tuesday 29 September.

The restaurant, located on the site of the former Ragu restaurant on George Street, has been designed by Ottolenghi’s long-time collaborator, Alex Meitlis, who has designed all the restaurants and delis for over twenty years.

A central bar forms the heart of the restaurant, while a private dining room offers a dedicated space for celebrations and communal feasting. The creative theme of the restaurant, ‘We Share the Same Sea’, comes from long-term creative partners and artists Gilles & Cecilie, exploring the connection between Scotland and the brand’s Southern Mediterranean roots.

Aprons have been designed locally by menswear brand Kestin, also available to purchase in the brand’s Stockbridge store.
