Michelin Guide Ceremony 2026: 'Tiny' rural Scottish restaurant 'chuffed' after receiving Michelin Star
Killiecrankie House received their Star at Monday’s ceremony.
The owner of a Scottish restaurant has said he is “chuffed” after their “tiny” eatery received a Michelin Star.
Killiecrankie House reopened in 2021 by Matilda Tsappis and her husband Tom as a luxury retreat for food lovers.
The house, which sits in its own grounds within the village of Killiecrankie in Perthshire, is home to five bedrooms, an 18 seater restaurant with open kitchen, a lounge and a cocktail bar.

The couple moved from London to Killiecrankie to realise their dream of opening their own restaurant after running their popular supper club, Elia London.
Killiecrankie House was awarded a Michelin Star at the Michelin Guide Ceremony on Monday evening.
After receiving the star, Mr Tsappis said: “We’re a tiny restaurant in the middle of nowhere in the Scottish Highlands - we’re chuffed.
“We’re four years old - we’re a baby restaurant really.
“When we first employed people, we told them we’d get a star within three years. So I have to apologise to our original cast of employees as we let them down.
“My staff are all texting me, I know they’re all in tears, we’re all delighted.”

The Michelin Guide wrote: “This attractive whitewashed former manse in the Cairngorms National Park has been transformed into a true dining destination with a personality of its own.
“Start in the elegant bar, with one of the fine selection of Scottish and Japanese whiskies, before heading to the Nordic-style dining room for the main event.
“A surprise tasting menu fuses Scottish produce, including some from their garden, with Japanese techniques, enhancing the ingredients to brilliant effect.
“The house-made oat tofu is a prime example, served with a lip-smacking fermented cream sauce with broad beans and chilli.”
