In case you hadn't noticed, we are pretty much in the throes of winter and with the freezing weather and long cold nights you are going to want some fun beers to drink and enjoy.

Niall, who runs the Wee Beer Shop in Glasgow's southside,  has picked five great Scottish beers that will definitely warm the cockles this winter - metaphorically of course. Beers for winter

Niall said: "Mexicake is another rich dark beer that we love at this time of year. Packed full of cinnamon, vanilla, cocoa and chillies, this stout has a lovely gentle heat."

"If you are lucky you might find some of the limited quantities of this beer that was matured in whisky, bourbon or brandy barrels that give it an extra dimension. Tempest excelled themselves with this superb beer."
