There are a total of 869 Wetherspoons pubs and hotels spread across Britain - meaning most of us will live close to at least one.
For every person who loves the reasonable prices and traditional decor of a Wetherspoons boozer, there’s another who wants to avoid the music-free interiors and any involvement with owner Tim Martin’s outspoken political views.
But there’s no doubting that the brand is a very British success story and has done plenty to preserve some much-loved buildings that may otherwise not have survived in their current form.
New research conducted by the experts at Q.R. Code Generator has analysed Google reviews for every Wetherspoons in Scotland to come up with a list of the best rated - those that have the highest percentage of ‘excellent’ five star reviews.
Here are the pubs that lead the way in 2024.

5. The Corryvrechan
Completing the top five, with 1,930 five star reviews representing a 47.03 excellence rating, is Oban's The Corryvrechan. It's named after the famous whirlpool between the islands of Jura and Scarba, and is located near the town's ferry terminal in a quay area that was created from land reclaimed from the sea in 1880. | Google Maps

7. The White Lady
Edinburgh's third and final entry in the top nine is The White Lady pub and hotel in the Corstorphine area of the city - with a 45.24 excellence rating made up of 1,183 five star reviews. It's named after the ghost of Christian Nimmo, the mistress of James, Lord Forrester, who is said to have murdered her lover next to a tree on the road to Corstorphine Castle in 1679. The sycamore tree stood near the pub until it was blown down in the 1998 winter storms. | Google Maps
