CRAFT beer maker BrewDog has taken its global bar count to 27 after opening a “watering hole” in Leicester.

The move marks the 19th UK site for the maverick Aberdeenshire brewer, which has been a driving force behind the micro-brewery and craft beer revolution.

BrewDog Leicester is the second bar to be launched by the firm this year, after its Barcelona opening in February. The Leicester venue features a curved bar and “cinema-style” draught-beer board, as well as vintage arcade games and pinball machines. It will be the first to serve breakfast at the weekends. James Watt, who co-founded the brewer alongside Martin Dickie, said: “Leicester is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city and we’re thrilled to be setting up a home there. With BrewDog bars in Nottingham and Birmingham, and now Leicester, we have well and truly put our stamp on the Midlands.

“The passion for great craft beer has taken firm roots in the symbolic heart of England and continues to thrive.”
