“We are more focused than ever on leading the way for our industry” – Nicholas Muirhead, CEO

Scottish Leather Group has pledged to continue “setting the standard” for the leather industry after launching a key annual report.

The group, which supplies the automotive, aviation and passenger transport markets, among others, said it was reaffirming its commitment to continual innovation in sustainability.

Its latest environmental, social and governance (ESG) report - the 23rd annual statement of its kind - outlines the pioneering work being carried out across the group’s various businesses.

A large solar panel array at Bridge of Weir now supplies up to 28 per cent of anticipated annual electricity use and regularly meets up to 100 per cent of daytime demand. The group said it had made a concerted effort to strengthen climate resilience while confirming that its key suppliers were committed to decarbonisation.

Chief executive Nicholas Muirhead said: “Scottish Leather Group has continuously invested in considered, long-term strategic initiatives designed to optimise and improve environmental sustainability, while simultaneously boosting productivity and enhancing product quality.

“For 23 years, we have reported openly on our progress, and our pioneering approach continues to make us an industry leader.

“Our 2026 environmental, social and governance report shows that we are more focused than ever on leading the way for our industry. From achieving net zero for our Scope 1 and 2 emissions to opening our new BioPRO facility in Glasgow, we are delivering on our five-year plan and building resilience across our businesses, Bridge of Weir, Lang and Muirhead.

“This progress, along with our longstanding commitment to traceability and transparency, underscores SLG’s position as the leader in the supply of sustainable materials for the world’s luxury car brands, the aviation sector, and beyond,” he added.
