Luxury five-star wedding hotel overlooking famous Scottish golf course sold
“Becoming custodians of Lochgreen is a responsibility we take with great pride, and one we are committed to honouring every day” – Aaron Kyle, RAD Hotel Group
One of Scotland’s most popular and luxurious wedding hotels has changed hands.
RAD Hotel Group has acquired the five-star Lochgreen House Hotel & Spa in Troon for an undisclosed sum. The deal has been described as a “major milestone in the company’s continued growth strategy”, bringing its portfolio to ten hotels across Scotland.
Renowned for its luxury spa, accommodation and award-winning wedding offering, Lochgreen has established an international reputation with visitors drawn to Ayrshire’s world-famous golfing coastline, including nearby Royal Troon.

RAD Hotel Group said the deal had been sealed following an agreement with hotelier Bill Costley, whose stewardship of the property has helped cement Lochgreen’s reputation as one of Scotland's top hotels and wedding venues.
The hotel’s new owner said it planned to incorporate many of the property’s historic features and “rich history” into future interior design and guest spaces.
Aaron Kyle, director at RAD Hotel Group, said: “As one Ayrshire family-owned business succeeds another, we are incredibly proud to welcome Lochgreen House Hotel into the RAD Hotel Group collection.
“More than two years in the making, this marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for one of Scotland’s most treasured hospitality destinations. Becoming custodians of Lochgreen is a responsibility we take with great pride, and one we are committed to honouring every day.
“Bill Costley has created something truly special at Lochgreen and, as he steps into a well-deserved retirement, our priority is to protect and build upon the remarkable legacy he leaves behind. Our ambition is simple - to ensure Lochgreen continues to thrive for generations to come.”
The acquisition of Lochgreen follows the successful addition of several landmark Scottish hotels to the RAD Hotel Group portfolio in recent years, including Seamill Hydro and Brig o' Doon House Hotel, which was also acquired from Costley.
The acquisition of Lochgreen also follows the purchase of the boutique nine-bed Seamill House Hotel in West Kilbride earlier this month.
The group confirmed that Lochgreen House will continue to operate as normal throughout the transition, with guests, wedding couples and event organisers experiencing no disruption. All members of the hotel team have been retained.
