Isle of Harris Distillery’s multi-million contribution to island
The firm marked 10 years last year
New research is said to show the Isle of Harris Distillery has made a multi-million pound contribution to the Island and Scottish economy.

Based in the remote harbour village of Tarbert, the report details that the distillery has contributed £13.8m to the local economy and generated £37.7m in turnover since its inception in 2015, driven by the global popularity of its island-made ultra-premium Isle of Harris Gin and single malt whisky, The Hearach.
The review conducted by MKA Economics also shows the distillery has been a primary driver of tourism to Harris, welcoming over 650,000 visitors through its doors since opening in 2015.
Isle of Harris Distillery originally started with 10 employees and now employs 31.
Ron MacEachran, Executive Chairman of Isle of Harris Distillery, said: “Last year we marked a ten-year milestone in our business. Reflecting on the report findings, we are proud of what has been achieved, including the significant contribution the distillery has made to the island economy and community. It’s wonderful to be at a point where the distillery is clearly fulfilling its original purpose."
