Family-run Glasgow construction firm sets £20 million revenue goal after hitting milestone

“We have never been a business to stand still and 2026 is already shaping up to be a remarkable year of growth” – Douglas Aitken, MD

A Glasgow-based construction business founded 12 years ago by a father and son duo is aiming to double turnover to £20 million by 2030.

Lochlie Construction - set up by Douglas and David Aitken in 2014 - has set the ambitious goal after reaching £10m in annual revenues. In a little over a decade, the business has become a key player in the Scottish construction scene and grown its team to 72 employees.

In an effort to support future growth opportunities and modernise operations, Lochlie has placed an emphasis on digital transformation and has been undertaking a knowledge transfer partnership with the University of the West of Scotland and Innovate UK, which focuses on artificial intelligence (AI) and automation. As part of the programme, Habib Manzoor, an AI expert and data scientist, has joined Lochlie as its new associate.

The firm has also recently launched Ardura by Lochlie Construction, which focuses on providing services for high-end residential projects. It has already completed a £1.5m project in Johnstone and is currently working on a significant residential project in Strathblane valued at £3.5m.

Managing director Douglas Aitken said: “We are so proud to have reached this milestone revenue figure which is testament to the resilience of our business model and the diversified offering including work in sectors outside of construction such as renewables services. This of course would not be possible without the driven and skilled team we have assembled here, whom our clients trust to get the job done to the high standards synonymous with our work.

“We have never been a business to stand still and 2026 is already shaping up to be a remarkable year of growth for Lochlie,” he added. “We will strive to learn how best we can harness the power of AI and automation to support our skilled workforce, making us more efficient and enhancing our service to clients in the process.”

Construction director Tom Tracy said: “As the business continues to grow in a controlled manner, I’m personally looking forward to bringing my decades of experience working within volume new build housing to the luxury market under the new Ardura brand.”
