In his new role, he will provide strategic public affairs and communications advice to a wide range of clients.

Matheson was a long-serving adviser to the SNP, with roles including head of communications and special adviser to the First Minister.

The founding partner of Linco said: “At Linco we are committed to offering the highest quality consultancy and Fraser brings a wealth of experience which will be of huge value to our clients.

“As Scotland heads to the polls in May, Fraser’s appointment adds further depth to our team, strengthening the support we provide to clients seeking to engage decision-makers and raise their profile.”

MacDonald said: “I’m delighted to bring my experience in political campaigns and communications to Linco, after more than a decade on the front line of Scottish and UK politics. Linco has made a significant impact since its inception - and has significant opportunities ahead. I’m looking forward to playing my part in its future success.”

The senior advisory team at Linco also includes Innes Taylor, a former Scottish Conservatives adviser and special adviser to the Prime Minister, and James Millar, former political journalist for the Sunday Post and The Press and Journal.
