“A new era of Hogwarts begins,” the trailer for HBO’s Harry Potter show teases.

The first trailer for HBO’s Harry Potter series has officially arrived, promising fans “a new era of Hogwarts”.

After teasing followers on social media with a glimpse of Scottish actor Dominic McLaughlin as Harry in his quidditch uniform last night, the official trailer for the reboot is now here with season one confirmed to be named after the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

The show, which is set to be released late this year, will reimagine J.K Rowling’s bestselling fantasy series for a new generation, following the hugely successful film series.

McLaughlin, who will take over from Daniel Radcliffe as the titular character, was cast in the lead role following an open casting call for actors from the UK and Ireland in 2024. He will star alongside Arabella Stanton, who will make her on screen debut as Hermione, and Alastair Stout who will play Ron - all three of whom can been seen throughout the first look.

Arriving just in time for the launch of HBO Max in the UK, other actors who appear in the Harry Potter trailer include Nick Frost, Paapa Essiedu, John Lithgow, and Bel Powley.
